(Yicai) Feb. 11 -- GalaxySpace, a Chinese satellite internet company, is teaming up with True Corp., a leading telecoms operator in Thailand, to explore more satellite internet application scenarios in the Southeast Asian country and to build a digital infrastructure for the future.

The two parties will carry out in-depth co-operation in the fields of low-Earth orbit satellite communication technology, integrated space-ground network solutions, and direct satellite communication technology for mobile phones, Beijing-based GalaxySpace said yesterday, citing the cooperation memorandum signed by the two parties. They will also aim to promote the development and verification of related technologies.

"LEO satellite technology is a major leap in the global communications field and will drive transformative changes in the social and economic fields worldwide,” True Chief Executive Officer Manat Manavutiveth said. “We are delighted to partner with GalaxySpace, a global leader in LEO satellite internet technology, to introduce cutting-edge innovative technologies to Thai consumers."

As a leading telecommunications and technology company in Thailand, True is committed to upgrading the country's digital telecommunications infrastructure, Manavutiveth said. This tie-up will significantly improve the coverage and robustness of the Bangkok-based company's telecommunications network, providing advanced communication services to Thai businesses and individuals.

GalaxySpace will work closely with its Thai partner to deepen the integration of satellite and ground networks and inject new vitality into the ASEAN and global communications, said Xu Ming, founder, chairman and CEO of Beijing-based GalaxySpace

GalaxySpace, which was formed in 2018, launched its first self-developed internet communication satellite in January 2020, establishing China's first LEO broadband communication test satellite and completing multiple verifications of LEO broadband satellite internet communication.

In the first half of 2024, the company realized the export of LEO broadband satellite internet to Thailand, and completed the first LEO satellite internet network test verification in the country.
