(Yicai) Feb. 27 -- Fosun Tourism Group, the Chinese owner of French hospitality brand Club Med and luxury resort Atlantis Sanya, has established an artificial intelligence laboratory to drive the application, innovation, and implementation of AI technologies in the tourism sector.

The AI Lab brings together professionals from the AI, big data, and machine learning fields to drive technological research and innovation, enhance cross-department collaboration, optimize customer experience, improve operational efficiency, and facilitate the practical implementation of AI technologies, the Shanghai-based company announced yesterday.

An intelligent agent developed by the AI Lab and integrated with DeepSeek-R1 has recently been put into use at Fosun Tourism. The program's current version is responsible for distributing internal learning materials to enhance employees' AI skills.

"I am particularly optimistic about two directions: the empowerment of AI to reconstruct and upgrade vertical industries and the revolutionary changes in productivity and production brought about by the true integration of physical and virtual AI," said Guo Guangchang, chairman of Fosun Tourism's parent company Fosun International.  

Fosun Tourism launched an AI-themed resort project in China's southernmost Hainan province last October. The resort already offers personalized room customization using AI-generated content and 24-hour service provided by digital humans enabled by natural language processing technology.

Fosun Tourism [HKG: 1992] was trading at HKD7.60 (98 US cents) as of lunch break in Hong Kong today. The company announced plans to delist after a year of poor trading performance in December.
