(Yicai) March 24 -- Shares of Fenda Technology soared after the Chinese smart hardware and solutions provider announced a partnership with a top Chinese university to advance humanoid robot applications and core parts development.

Fenda [SHE: 002681] was trading up 8.9 percent at CNY9.04 (USD1.25) as of lunch break in Shenzhen today, after earlier surging by the 10 percent exchange-imposed daily trading limit.

Fenda will join hands with Tsinghua University to integrate cutting-edge embodied intelligent components, including Freehandy, into its production lines to ultimately enhance the intelligence and operational efficiency of its manufacturing systems, the Shenzhen-based company announced yesterday.

The pair will also develop humanoid robot core parts, such as joints, improve core underlying technologies to boost robotic precision and stability, and refine artificial intelligence algorithms to advance humanoid robots’ intelligent interaction capabilities, Fenda noted.

The partnership, which includes a payment of CNY8 million (USD1.1 million) to Tsinghua University from Fenda, will also concentrate on talent cultivation and recruitment, technical training, and project consulting in AI and robotics, Fenda added.

Fenda entered the humanoid robot sector in late 2023 by establishing a subsidiary focused on producing related components. In the AI application field, the company has long-term partnerships with leading tech giants, such as Amazon, Alibaba Group Holding, and Huawei Technologies. It has produced nearly 20 million smart speakers as an original equipment manufacturer since 2017.
