(Yicai Global) July 20 -- Elegant Home-Tech, a Chinese maker of polyvinyl chloride flooring, plans to invest as much as USD30 million to build a factory in Mexico to make resilient vinyl flooring products to better serve clients in North America.
Elegant Mexican Flooring, a joint venture of Elegant Home-Tech and its Hong Kong unit, will be responsible for building and running the Mexican plant, its Zhangjiagang-based parent company said late yesterday.
North America and Europe are the major consumer markets for resilient vinyl flooring, a decorative material made of PVC resin and additives.
The Mexican plant is another bid by Elegant Home-Tech to raise its production capacity in North America after it built a JV plant in the United States, the firm added, noting that the facility will help localize production, thus cutting tariff and transport costs.
Elegant Home-Tech supplies foreign resilient vinyl flooring brands with original design products, and Vertex is one of its major overseas partners. Elegant Home-Tech’s products are available on the shelves of well-known home furnishing retailers, such as Home Depot, according to the company’s most recent annual report.
Shares of Elegant Home-Tech [SHA: 603221] inched up 0.2 percent to close at CNY8.52 (USD1.19) apiece in Shanghai today. The stock has gained 5.7 percent since the end of last year.
