(Yicai) Oct. 15 -- Appotronics, a Chinese laser display equipment maker, said it has received an order for car screens and solutions for the new model under the new energy brand of Huawei Technologies and Chinese automaker BAIC Bluepark New Energy Technology.

Appotronics will provide smart cockpit displays for the new Stelato model, which uses Huawei's intelligent driving technology, the Shenzhen-based firm announced late yesterday. Mass production and supply will likely begin next year, it added.

The imaging display solution developed by Appotronics is used on the luxury electric sedan Stelato S9, the first jointly developed model between Huawei and BAIC Bluepark under the tech behemoth's Smart Selection model.

The Stelato S9 comes in two editions, with the Max version priced at CNY399,800 (USD56,170) and the Ultra version at CNY449,800, Huawei said at a launch event on Aug. 6. Some 2,169 units were delivered last month.

Appotronics' displays have also been used on the Aito M9, a sport utility vehicle co-developed by Huawei and Seres Group, since last December. The supply deal helped it achieve a breakthrough in revenue in this sector, with its income reaching CNY48 million (USD6.7 million) in the first quarter of this year, according to its financial report.

Appotronics' large-scale projection display products are suitable for installation in sport utility vehicles and sedans as well as multi-purpose vehicles and buses, its executives said on the stock exchange's investor interaction platform. The company is working to promote more uses for its car screens, they noted.

Shares of Appotronics [SHA: 688007] rose 1.3 percent to CNY15.84 (USD2.22) each as of 1.45 p.m. in Shanghai today, after earlier jumping by as much as 4.2 percent.
