(Yicai) Nov. 6 -- The number of overseas buyers at the recently concluded 136th China Import and Export Fair, also known as the Canton Fair, set a new record.
As of Nov. 3, 253,000 buyers from 214 countries and regions attended the 136th Canton Fair, up almost 3 percent from the previous session, according to Zhou Shanqing, deputy director of the China Foreign Trade Centre. The value of intended export transactions reached USD24.95 billion, up 1 percent. The event ended on Nov. 4.
The Canton Fair is organized in Guangzhou twice per year and the import and export-oriented event covers almost all industries, including electronics, machinery, building materials, textiles, home goods, food, and healthcare products.
Buyers from Belt and Road countries accounted for over 60 percent of attendees, totaling 165,000, an increase of 4 percent. Attendance from Middle Eastern countries saw the fastest growth, with 34,000 buyers—a 33 percent rise. Buyers from Europe and the Americas showed a notable rebound, totaling 54,000, up 8 percent.
Digital, intelligent, and eco-friendly products were especially popular among international buyers. The latest fair showcased nearly 1.2 million new products, one million green products, and 1.1 million products with independent intellectual property rights. Additionally, 435 new product launch events attracted about 3,500 buyers on-site.
Beyond product displays, the latest Canton Fair also prioritized intellectual property protection and trade dispute resolution.
Throughout the exhibition, both online and offline channels received IP complaints involving 455 companies. Among these, 206 were identified as allegedly infringing. Furthermore, 20 trade disputes were accepted for mediation, with 12 cases reaching settlement agreements.
