China Will Promote Full WIFI Coverage in All High-Speed Trains China Will Promote Full WIFI Coverage in All High-Speed Trains

(Yicai Global) Dec. 18 -- China will equip all high-speed trains with WIFI. The move follows introduction of WIFI in the fast Fuxing-class high-speed trains running between capital Beijing and Shanghai and comes at a time when China's internet-savvy citizens increasingly use online services to make bookings and payments.

All high-speed trains running across China will have WIFI services, said Huang Min, deputy general manager of China Railway Corporation, at a forum yesterday.

The experience for railway passengers has undergone significant changes as online ticket booking, payment via WeChat, self-service entrance and online meal ordering have been available, Huang said, adding check-in via facial recognition will be gradually promoted throughout the train stations.

Some domestic railway stations, such as Guangzhou South Railway Station, Lanzhou Railway Station and Beijing West Railway Station, are already equipped with face-recognition systems, through which passengers can enter the stations via face-scanning.
