(Yicai Global) June 21 -- Recent adjustments to Chinese rules on waste separation could spur the value of the country's trash disposal sector to CNY200 billion (USD29.2 billion) by 2020, according to Guosheng Securities.
The whole industry chain covering household waste disposal is receiving a mass of attention as cities like Shanghai, Shenzhen and Beijing roll out new roles and penalize residents for failing to obey, Guosheng said in a recent research report.
Shanghai will bring in such rules on July 1 and will fine residents who fail to correctly separate their waste up to CNY200.
There is an abundance of investment opportunities about to emerge in waste transport, garbage disposal units and trash incineration, Guosheng said, adding that new equipment purchases and facility construction for the sector could reach up to CNY160 billion.
