China's Wanshun Confirms US Anti-Dumping Duties on Aluminum Foil Products China's Wanshun Confirms US Anti-Dumping Duties on Aluminum Foil Products

(Yicai Global) March 2 -- A unit of Chinese company Wanshun Package Material Stock Co. is among the firms earmarked by the US Department of Commerce for anti-dumping duties.

The Shantou-based firm's Jiangsu Zhongji Lamination materials Co. subsidiary will be subjected to 48.64 percent antidumping duty and 17.14 percent countervailing duty on foil exported to the US, the parent said in a statement.

China expressed strong dissatisfaction with the US Department of Commerce's anti-dumping ruling against the products, criticizing the country for disregarding World Trade Organization rules and seriously damaging the interests of Chinese aluminum foil exporters.

The country will take necessary measures to safeguard its own legitimate rights and interests in response to the erroneous practice of the US, said Wang Hejun, director of trade remedy and investigation bureau at the commerce ministry, today.

The US Department of Commerce continued to treat China as a "non-market economy country" according to its domestic laws and applied the "alternative country" approach to levy an abnormally high level of anti-dumping duty ranging from 48.64 percent to 106.09 percent, Wang said.

Trade friction between China and the United States have been increasing since the Trump administration took office. The US will impose a 25 percent tariff on steel imports and 10 percent tariff on aluminum, U.S. President Donald Trump said. It is not yet clear whether the measures will target all trading partners or just certain countries such as China.
