(Yicai Global) Nov. 28 -- In order to help the public more easily locate public conveniences, the Chinese government has unveiled an online service platform detailing information on 330,000 public toilets across the country, online tech news outlet Kuai Keji reported.
The Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development led research and development of the service, which will allow the public to use Wechat, a popular social media and lifestyle app run by Tencent Holdings Ltd. [HKG:0700], to locate public toilets. Users will also be able to find out if the facilities are free of charge or paid and whether or not they have a special room for childcare or nursing.
The service went into operation on Nov. 19 and already has more than 20,000 users. The government will look to further improve the platform, it added.
