(Yicai Global) July 4 -- Big three mobile operator China United Network Communications, better known as China Unicom, will team with the country's biggest logistics industry association to jointly promote digital supply chain solutions as part of efforts to accelerate the technological upgrade of the sector.

China Unicom and the China Federation of Logistics and Purchasing will jointly build a smart supply chain public service platform to provide fast access, rapid application development and other services for terminals and development enterprises, the Beijing-based company said in a statement.

The pair will also provide standardized services for small and medium-sized customer enterprises through the platform.

China Unicom has promoted the application of Internet of Things in the smart supply chain field, as part of efforts to meet business deployment needs of customers in the logistics industry, said Deputy General Manager Liang Baojun, adding that the carrier aims to provide efficient, safe and reliable network connections for the digital supply chain via its nationwide mobile network.

The two parties will draft an industry development report and bring together local governments, enterprises and related associations to develop a standard system for the digital supply chain. They will also foster cooperation in digital supply chain industrial parks and business incubation.
