(Yicai Global) April 30 -- Chinese photovoltaic company Trina Solar has struck a supply agreement with SunSource Energy, a leading Indian solar power company, to provide 105 megawatts of Vertex bifacial modules to the local market.
The deal will promote the Chinese firm's 500-watt plus ultra-high power sets worldwide, the Chinese PV module supplier said today.
SunSource, which is based in Noida in the northern Indian state of Uttar Pradesh, is a leading provider of photovoltaic solar energy and energy storage products and services in emerging markets such as India and Southeast Asia. The 105MW Vertex bifacial modules -- which generate power through both their obverse and reverse sides -- will go into service in several Indian power plants. Trina Solar is expected to start shipping them in the fourth quarter, it said, but omitted any mention of the contract value.
Long-term cooperation with Trina Solar, will enable SunSource to continue to provide highly reliable photovoltaic power generation solutions to the Indian market, said Adarsh Das, the firm's chief executive and co-founder.
This first large order of Vertex modules in the Indian market reflects the confidence and recognition of customers and the market in Trina Solar said Helena Li, president of Trina Solar Asia Pacific. The module's high power 500W allows achievement of a project’s power output with a smaller set of modules, she noted.
Founded in 1997, Jiangsu province-based Trina Solar is a leading global provider of photovoltaic products and systems.
