(Yicai Global) Jan. 12 -- China's mobile game market generated revenues totaling USD14.6 billion last year, which is nearly twice as much as the US's USD7.7 billion, making China the largest mobile game market in the world.

Japan comes in at third by mobile game market revenues, to be followed by South Korea and Britain, according to the "2017 Global Mobile Games Industry Report" released during the China Digital Entertainment Industry Annual Summit (DEAS) in Xiamen, the southeastern Fujian province yesterday.

E-Sports became the main driving force for the development of China's mobile game market last year, with the overall size of mobile e-Sports, e-Sports events and derivative content market jumping over 250 percent to CNY45 billion (USD6.9 billion). It is the first time that China's mobile e-Sports market has surpassed the traditional PC e-Sports market, said the report.

In addition, the game market based on 'anime' culture continued its rapid growth of more than 60 percent last year after experiencing a skyrocketing development in 2016. As the spending power of China's younger generation improves, the market size of 'anime' culture is expected to continue its rapid development.
