(Yicai Global) July 19 -- The Chinese government will launch more than 1,000 public service platforms by 2025 to boost the competitiveness and growth momentum of small and medium-sized businesses, a spokesperson for the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology said today.

Nine government departments, including the MIIT, will develop and implement targeted measures to serve over 10,000 small and medium-sized firms and help them upgrade to the medium and high-ends of the industrial chain, Tao Qing told Yicai Global at a press briefing, citing a recently released government document.

The upgrading of quality will be emphasized and professional training sessions will be provided to increase smaller companies’ awareness of corporate quality, said Tao, who is also head of the MIIT’s bureau of operation, monitoring and coordination.

China will also support highly specialized small and medium-sized companies that produce unique products to take part in the setting of association-level, sectoral and national criteria as well as international standards, she said.

Small and medium-sized firms will be guided to enhance their brand awareness and to strengthen their brand building, she added. The country will also improve public services and form better quality appraisal systems such as standards, measurements and tests.
