(Yicai Global) June 24 -- Tianma Microelectronics, a Chinese display maker, and its unit will set up a new subsidiary in India to meet rapidly growing demand in the South Asian country.
Tianma will invest around USD74,000 to establish Tianma Microelectronics India in order to help the parent improve its competitiveness in the regional market, the Shenzhen-based firm said in a statement yesterday.
Founded in 1983, Tianma has production bases in Shenzhen, Shanghai, Chengdu, Wuhan and Xiamen as well as Japan. Its Wuhan plant started delivering a new generation of low-temperature polycrystalline silicon screens, a type of faster liquid-crystal displays, last June. The firm has marketing and technical centers in the US, Germany, Japan and South Korea.
