University in Shanghai Fires Academic Amid Police Probe Into Sexual Harassment University in Shanghai Fires Academic Amid Police Probe Into Sexual Harassment

(Yicai Global) Dec. 10 -- Prestigious Chinese business college Shanghai University of Finance and Economics has kicked out Associate Professor Qian Fengsheng amid an ongoing police investigation regarding suspected sexual harassment.

SUFE has revoked Qian's teaching license that he would need to teach at this specific university, state-backed The Paper reported yesterday, citing the eastern university's Weibo post. SUFE has filed a report to the authorities.

A female postgraduate student from the university's School of Accounting on Dec. 6 posted a note along with a recording and a chat screenshot on WeChat, claiming that Qian, who is on the department's faculty, sexually harassed her, according to media reports. She had reported his alleged misdeeds to SUFE.

Qian has resigned from his independent director positions at China National Building Material Group, Tofflon Science and Technology, Hanbell Precise Machinery, and Tongji Science & Technology Industrial.
