(Yicai Global) Jan. 14 -- China's markets failed to sustain last week's gains, with three benchmark stock indexes closing down.
The Shanghai Composite Index was down 0.71 percent at 2,535.77 points with a trading volume of CNY116.2 billion (USD17.2 billion). The Shenzhen Component Index ended 0.87 percent lower to close at 7,409.20 points after turning over CNY166.9 billion.
The Growth Enterprise Index, also in Shenzhen, dropped 1.23 percent to 1,246.00 points with CNY51.8 billion exchanged.
The steel manufacturing and coal mining sectors led the gainers, closing 1.8 percent above the sliding indexes.
