China's Stock Markets Remain Steady in Early Trading China's Stock Markets Remain Steady in Early Trading

(Yicai Global) Aug. 29 -- China's mainland major stock indexes were steady, remaining almost unchanged in the early hours of the morning session on Tuesday after the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index hit a new high at 3375.03 points yesterday for the first time since January 2016.

The Shanghai Composite Index started the session today down 0.02 percent at 3362.06 points after closing at 3362.65 points yesterday.

The Shenzhen Component Index was down 0.12 percent at 10,796.54 points at the opening of the morning session. It closed at 10,809.74 points yesterday.

The Growth Enterprise Index slipped 0.04 percent at 1,842.15 points following yesterday's closure at 1,842.83 points.

Stocks in steel industry sector and electricity industry sector surged, increasing more than 2.5 percent.

The Hong Kong stock market performed lower than the Chinese mainland market in early trading today. The Hong Kong Hang Seng Index was down 0.4 percent at 27,744.58 points after closing at 27,905.59 points yesterday. It rose to as high as 28,046 in the early morning trade yesterday, marking the highest level in more than two years.
