China's Stock Markets Open Down; Gold Shares Rise

(Yicai Global) Aug. 13 -- Chinese stock markets opened down this morning, following the US market's decline overnight, while gold shares rose as the precious metal's price hit a six-year high.

The Shanghai Composite Index opened at 2,798.05, down 0.6 percent. The Shenzhen Component Index fell 0.76 percent to 8,910.15. The ChiNext Price Index, which tracks growth enterprises listed in Shenzhen, tumbled 0.9 percent to 1,526.08.
