(Yicai Global) Sept. 5 -- China's stock markets closed higher on Tuesday, with the Shenzhen Component Index reaching the highest point since December 2016.
The Shanghai Composite Index advanced 0.14 percent to close at 3,384.32 points. The benchmark Shanghai index hit a new high of 3,390.82 points in the afternoon session.
The Shenzhen Component Index gained 0.22 percent, closing at 10,986.95 points after it hit a new high of 10,995.53 points in intraday trading.
The Growth Enterprise Index inched up 0.08 percent to close at 1,885.16 points.
The stocks with high share dividends soared 2.62 percent, while the stocks related to the Hangzhou Asian Games rose 1.66 percent. The shares of logistics companies and domestic computer chip firms surged 1.53 and 1.10 percent, respectively.
