China's Stock Markets Follow US Plunge, Open Down

(Yicai Global) Aug. 15 -- Chinese stock markets drooped at the opening bell, following US markets big overnight slump.

The Shanghai Composite Index opened at 2,762.34, down 1.66 percent. The Shenzhen Component Index plummeted 2.08 percent to 8,779.53. The ChiNext Price Index, which tracks growth enterprises listed in Shenzhen, tumbled 1.43 percent to 1,546.21. 

The Dow Jones Industrial Average slid 3.05 percent to 25,479.42 yesterday. The S&P 500 fell by 2.93 percent to 2,840.60, while the Nasdaq dived 3.02 percent to 7,773.94.
