(Yicai Global) June 17 -- Chinese stocks closed mixed after rising this morning, with gains led by the traditional Chinese medicine sector.

The Shanghai Composite Index closed 0.2 percent lower at 2,887.62, while the Shenzhen Component Index was down 0.33 percent at 8,780.87 and the ChiNext Price Index, which tracks growth enterprises in Shenzhen, ended 0.8 percent lower at 1,442.35.

Traditional Chinese medicine-related shares rose nearly 2 percent.
