(Yicai Global) Aug. 1 -- Technology shares performed the best today on China's mainland markets as all Star Market stocks rose and Shenzhen's tech board inched up in the afternoon session while the mainboards fell.
The ChiNext Price Index, which tracks growth enterprises in Shenzhen, climbed 0.2 percent to 1,573.87. The Shanghai Composite Index closed 0.8 percent lower at 2,908.77. The Shenzhen Component Index declined 0.6 percent to 9,268.05.
The 25 firms listed on Shanghai's new Star Market closed higher, led by two shares rising by the daily limit of 20 percent. Worldia Diamond Tools [SHA:688028] climbed to CNY126 (USD18.30) and Suzhou's Harmontronics Automation Technology [SHA:688022] jumped to CNY85.1.
