China's Stock Market Closes Mixed, Shanghai Index Recovered in Afternoon(Yicai Global) May 24 -- China's stock market closed mixed with the Shanghai index making a slight gain in the afternoon's trade. The Shenzhen market narrowed losses.
The Shanghai Composite Index closed 0.02 percent higher at 2,852.99 with a turnover of CNY162.7 billion (USD23.5 billion). The Shenzhen Component Index ended 0.37 percent lower at 8,776.77 with a trading volume of CNY218.2 billion. The ChiNext Index, which tracks growth enterprises in Shenzhen, closed 0.52 percent lower at 1,443.75 with a turnover of CNY69.7 billion.
The Shanghai Composite closed 1.02 percent lower for the week overall, while the Shenzhen Component and the ChiNext slumped 2.48 percent 2.37 percent, respectively.
