(Yicai Global) Nov. 3 -- The Chinese State Council has appointed former Party Committee secretary and minister of finance, Xiao Jie, as its deputy secretary, and also named Chen Xiaodong assistant minister for foreign affairs, the government said on its official website yesterday.

The council also removed Du Yongsheng from the position of deputy director of National Administration for the Protection of State Secrets.
