(Yicai Global) Oct. 25 -- China has begun to develop Chinese-standard high-speed rail trains able to travel at up to 250 kilometers per hour.
The new trains will add to the existing lineup of Renaissance Electric Multiple Units (EMU).
China RailwayGroup Ltd. [HK:0390] hosted a conference in Shanghai today to report on its compilation of technical plans to develop the 250kmh Chinese-standard Renaissance EMU trains, China Securities Journal reported.
Compared with the existing 250kmh CRH EMU, the 250kmh Renaissance EMU attests to China's full independence in research and development, as the country will independently design, manufacture and model all hardware and software to which it own full intellectual property rights, a China Railway official said. Performance will also improve in EMU running resistance, power consumption, noise reduction, more comprehensive security monitoring and a longer service life. The overall performance and key system performance will also reach the world's first-rank.
The 250kmh Renaissance EMU will provide smarter status monitoring, repair and service and will adopt Chinese standards in line with China's railroad operational environments and demands, as well as unifying standards in train operation, application, maintenance, and repair, thus allowing the EMUs of different manufacturers to run harmoniously together to lower operating and repair costs.
China Railway will next organize a review of the technical plans for the 250kmh Chinese-standard Renaissance EMU to determine the finalized scheme and then build a prototype.
Developing the 250kmh Renaissance EMU and building China's high-speed rail as an international brand will facilitate the sustainable development of China's high-speed rail and help it 'Go Global.'
