(Yicai Global) March 22 -- China Southern Airlines Co. will purchase a total of 30 Boeing 737 Max narrow-body aircrafts, which will be delivered to its Xiamen subsidiary in batches from 2019 to 2022.
China Southern signed a contract with The Boeing Co. yesterday to buy 20 B737 Max 8s and 10 B737 Max 10s for its subsidiary XiamenAir, it said a filing to the Hong Kong Stock Exchange.
The statement said that the list price is USD3.6 billion but the actual transaction price will be significantly lower than that since Boeing will offer substantial discounts.
The transaction will help XiamenAir expand its transport capacity and improve the operation performance, while providing a comfortable air travel experience to passengers, it added.
XiamenAir will use new airplanes with subsidiaries such as Hebei Airlines and Jiangxi Air, Boeing said.
Per public information, XiamenAir owns 163 Boeing aircrafts in total and serves nearly 400 domestic and international air routes.
