(Yicai Global) May 6 -- Chinese search engine maker Sogou and government-owned Abu Dhabi Media have joined hands to develop the first Arabic-speaking virtual news anchor in the world.
The smart news presenter that also speaks English will be used in ADM's social media and cable TV channels to broadcast news more efficiently, China News website reported. Beijing's Sogou and state-backed Xinhua News Agency released the globe's first smart news anchor last November.
Sogou's expansion to overseas markets can improve multilingual communication, and the firm will continue to work in the fields of education, law, healthcare and entertainment, said Wang Yanfeng, general manager of Sogou Voice Interaction Technology Center.
These new developments within the media sector fit the United Arab Emirates' artificial intelligence strategy and support the nation's transformation into a knowledge-based society and economy, said Omar Sultan Al Olama, minister of AI.
Founded in 1996, ADM owns daily newspapers, magazines, TV channels and radio stations.
