(Yicai Global) Sept. 3 -- China will impose anti-dumping tariffs, ranging between 10.6 percent and 287.2 percent, on phenol imported from the US, the European Union, South Korea, Japan, and Thailand from Sept. 6.
Phenol imports from these countries and regions have caused substantial damage to the domestic industry, the commerce ministry announced yesterday, adding that the tariffs will stay in force for five years. Phenol is an aromatic organic compound that can be used as a disinfectant in household products.
US phenol imports will face tariffs of 244.3 percent or 287.2 percent. For EU companies, the duty will be stable at 30.4 percent. South Korean imports will be subject to levies of 12.5 percent or 23.7 percent. Japanese ones will have a range from 19.3 percent to 27 percent. The tariff for Thai phenol is 10.6 percent or 28.6 percent.
