China Slaps Anti-Dumping Duties on Hydroiodic Acid From US, Japan

(Yicai Global) June 19 -- China's commerce ministry has brought in duties on imports of hydroiodic acid from the US and Japan after an anti-dumping investigation found that the imports had caused substantial damage to the domestic industry.

The ruling requires Pennsylvania-based Atofina Chemicals to pay a 118.8 percent margin on exports to China, the ministry said in a statement. Import from other US and Japanese firms will be subject to a 41.1 percent levy effective June 23.

Authorities will also bring in anti-dumping measures on ethanolamine products from Malaysia, Saudi Arabia, Thailand and the US, the ministry said in a separate statement.
