(Yicai Global) March 7 -- Chinese schools should teach basic courses in artificial intelligence in elementary school to cultivate more talents in the sector, Liu Qingfeng, chairman of iFLYTEK Co. and a deputy to the National People's Congress (NPC), suggested during the NPC, as China Education Daily reported.

The government should implement various projects to embed AI core curricula in vocational and undergraduate education while integrating the field with other relevant majors and improve teachers' AI instruction in primary and secondary schools, among others, Liu recommended.

China's education ministry included relevant AI knowledge into the new curriculum standard for senior high school at the start of this year, while initiating its plan for 'AI+Teaching Team Construction.'
