China's Securities Regulatory Commission Chief, Qi Bin, joins China Investment Corp.

(Yicai Global) Aug. 3 -- The former director of China's Securities Regulatory Commission's (CSRC) International Department, Mr. Qi Bin, has been appointed as deputy general manager of China Investment Corporation, the Chinese sovereign wealth fund established in 2007 with assets of approximately USD200 billion, according to Caixin.

Mr. Qi graduated from the Department of Physics at Tsinghua University in 1991 with a bachelor's degree. He went to the United States in 1992 for further studies and received a master's degree in biophysics from the University of Rochester and an MBA degree from the University of Chicago, Booth School of Business. He received a doctoral degree in quantitative economics from Tsinghua University in 2006.

Mr. Qi worked at Goldman Sachs and other international investment banks between 1996 and 2000. He joined the CSRC in 2000 and has taken on a number of roles such, as heading its research center and innovation department.
