(Yicai Global) Nov. 25 -- Sanfo Outdoor Products, one of China's biggest outdoor gear brands, and Mammut Sports Group have agreed to sell the Swiss company's premium outdoor clothing and equipment in China.
The three-year deal will allow Mammut to leverage Sanfo's customer base on two of China's biggest e-commerce platforms JD.com and Alibaba Group Holding's Tmall, the Beijing-based firm said in a statement today. Mammut may also choose Sanfo as its main online portal to the Chinese market, it added.
The agreement is the latest in a series agreed with overseas outdoor brands that Sanfo has signed this year as Western firms vie to tap into the country's growing outdoor sports market, which is already worth CNY65 billion (USD9.24 trillion) according to some estimates.
In April Sanfo became the first and only Chinese retail partner of Swiss functional clothing manufacturer X-Bionic, and in August it became exclusive seller of US backpack brand Mystery Ranch on China's mainland.
All of Seon-based Mammut's goods will be available through Sanfo's online and offline channels, intensifying cooperation between the pair who already jointly run several bricks and mortar stores in China. Mammut has been operating on the mainland since 2013.
The deal was signed with Mammut's Beijing-registered unit. A formal agreement will be inked once the terms and sales volume are determined.
Shares of Sanfo [SHE:002780] rose 0.8 percent in Shenzhen today to close at CNY17.20 (USD2.44) each.
