(Yicai Global) May 11 -- The Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) and China Railway Corp. have struck an agreement to collaborate in air-rail intermodal passenger transport yesterday, per which they will upgrade infrastructure, introduce innovative intermodal transport products, enhance services and promote model projects.

The parties will strengthen their cooperation in planning, building, transforming and expanding new or existing airports, stations and hubs to ensure convenient and fast transfers and boost seamless connection between airports and high-speed rail stations to realize "seamless change," under the agreement, according to information published on CAAC's website.

Transfer service centers set up in airports and stations will devise innovative air-rail intermodal passenger transport products and improve services, Travelers without checked baggage will be able to transfer to a train from an airport without undergoing a security check.

The parties will develop new products to allow tourists to buy air and train tickets together, and study preferential policies for air-rail passengers. They will also expand information-sharing and study intermodal transport data. 

CAAC is a government regulator in China's civil aviation industry, while China Railway is a mega-enterprise offering domestic train services in China.
