(Yicai Global) July 27 -- China's real estate giant Greenland Holdings will build a trading port in Shanghai to form a platform for importing international goods to China.

Greenland will construct the Greenland Hongqiao World Center in downtown Shanghai, and the imported goods' shopping paradise will house more than 300 trading companies, the Shanghai-based firm said in a statement yesterday.

The port will have three main sections. The 110,000-square meter commodity trading hall will offer products for consumers to buy and includes an area for exhibitions. Merchants can find offices in the adjacent 90,000-square meters headquarters. The 200,000-square meters smart logistics park in Shanghai's Qingpu district will provide the firms with customs clearance, storage, and delivery services.

The port will be complete with an online platform that connects international merchants with local traders. The e-commerce platform's goal is to become a globally influential with a trading volume of over CNY200 billion (USD29.3 billion) in three years, one of Greenland's managers told Yicai Global under the auspices of anonymity, as the property developer has not disclosed the size of financing.

Greenland also plans to upgrade its G-Super grocery store chain to 'Greenland Global Commodity Service Center' to participate in the upcoming China International Import Expo with potential distribution channels for foreign firms wanting to expand to the Chinese market.
