China-Peru Free Trade Agreement Upgrade to Ease Bilateral Investment and Trade

(Yicai Global) Nov. 22 -- Gao Hucheng, China's commerce minister, and Eduardo Ferreyros, Peru's foreign commerce and tourism minister, yesterday signed a memorandum of understanding on upgrading the two countries' free trade agreement in Lima, Peru, per the Chinese commerce ministry's website.

The upgrade will help promote bilateral trade and liberalize and facilitate investment, achieve optimized interest and give a fillip to the two countries' economic and trade ties.

Signed in April 2009 and implemented since March 2010, the China-Peru free trade agreement is the first such treaty between China and a Latin American nation.
