(Yicai Global) March 22 -- The official website of China's 'One Belt, One Road' strategy – Belt and Road Portal (www.yidaiyilu.gov.cn) – went live yesterday, along with the launch of its Weibo and WeChat accounts.
The portal is operated by the State Information Center with guidance provided by the National Leading Group Office for Promoting the Construction of the Belt and Road Initiative, China's state-run news agency Xinhua reported. The Belt and Road portal will get technical and operational support from the Belt and Road Big Data Technology Co., IZP Technologies and Baidu Cloud, the portal said.
The portal defined its mission as "promoting information sharing, civilization exchanges and win-win cooperation." Emphasizing, "It will address key concerns at home and abroad, provide scientific explanations on the core ideas of the initiative, give interpretations to Chinese and foreign policies, laws and regulations in regard to the initiative," it aims to "demonstrate the latest developments and achievements and promote information sharing and exchanges among enterprises, social organizations and citizens of countries along the Belt and Road routes." It will be a gateway to main news in China and the Belt and Road countries.
During the initial stages the portal's information columns on the website will mainly include 'international news', 'Chinese news', 'policies', 'cooperation priorities', 'data', 'enterprises' and 'voices,' and service columns include policy, project, enterprise and talent databases. "The portal has established an information liaison mechanism involving over 30 ministries and ministerial-level departments, all provincial-level regions in China and many countries along the routes," it said.
The Belt and Road website currently has Chinese and English versions, but will launch Russian, French, Arabic and Spanish versions later this year to cover all major languages in the world.
