(Yicai Global) Jan. 30 -- The Chinese government will pay up to CNY300 (USD43) a day to medical personnel working on the frontlines against the deadly novel coronavirus-caused pneumonia, an epidemic that has reached all of China's provincial-level regions and made its way out of the country.
The central government will pay the bonus to staff in direct contact with patients or working in labs collecting and detecting the disease, the Ministry of Finance and National Health Commission said in a joint statement. Other medical workers will get an extra CNY200 a day.
Authorities have also offered to pay any surplus costs after medical insurance for any sufferers of the disease, Chinese or foreign, with the central government paying 60 percent and local authorities paying the remainder.
