(Yicai Global) Jan. 11 -- Ownership of new energy vehicles in China skyrocketed 70 percent to 2.6 million units last year, official data shows with battery NEVs making up 2.1 million of the total.
NEVs comprise 1.1 percent of total vehicles in the country, data from the public security ministry shows. China's total vehicle ownership rose 10 percent to hit 327 million last year, of which 240 million are cars.
The number of motor vehicle drivers reached 409 million including 369 million car drivers, while some 31.7 million new vehicles were registered in the country last year.
