(Yicai Global) Sept. 28 -- China will undertake a final evaluation of antidumping measures against polyvinyl chloride from the US, South Korea, Japan and Taiwan at mainland companies' request.

The country's Ministry of Commerce received the application from Xinjiang Zhongtai Chemical, Xinjiang Tianye (Group), Shaanxi Beiyuan Chemical Industry Group, Tianjin Dagu Chemical and Yibin Tianyuan Group on behalf of the mainland PVC industry. These firms assert the likelihood that the offenders will continue to offload their products in the mainland and claim the damage to local producers is likely to go on if the tariffs end. They are thus asking the ministry to keep the measures in place, MOFCOM announced today on its website.

The final review will start tomorrow. The duties will stay in force during the investigation.

The impost is 11 percent to 83 percent for the American companies, 6 percent to 76 percent for the South Koreans, 7 percent to 84 percent for the Japanese firms, and 10 percent to 25 percent for the Taiwanese, per MOFCOM's earlier ruling.

The investigation ran from July 1 last year to June 30. The one assessing injury to the local sector stretched from Jan. 1, 2015 to June 30.

The review set to start tomorrow will conclude before Sept. 28 next year.

PVC is a synthetic resin made by polymerizing vinyl chloride. It finds use in many products such as raincoats, shower curtains, window frames and plumbing, public information shows.
