(Yicai Global) Jan. 10 -- China's Ministry of Commerce has expressed disappointment at a US Department of Commerce final decision memorandum on its anti-dumping and countervailing duty investigation of Chinese-made construction products.
The ministry called into question the US Department of Commerce's decision to impose high tax rates on certain Chinese-made products, said Wang Hejun, director of the Trade Remedy and Investigation Bureau of China's Ministry of Commerce.
Wang stressed that the Chinese side expressed grave concern that the US side determined high tax rates artificially by ignoring the facts and abusing the rules. The Chinese side urged their US counterpart to abide by the relevant World Trade Organization rules, strictly follow the investigation procedures, and adopt trade remedy measures cautiously.
"China will take necessary measures to safeguard the fair rights of the Chinese enterprises involved," Wang added.
The US Department of Commerce calculated a China-wide dumping margin of 372.81 percent and countervailing duty rates ranging between 15.61 -152.5 percent for the Chinese enterprises subject to the probe. The Department calculated final subsidy rates of 15.61 percent and 56.24 percent for BOSTD Geosynthetics Qingdao Ltd. and Taian Modern Plastic Co., respectively.
The products in question, biaxial integral geogrid products, are used in the construction of paved and unpaved roads, as well as reinforcing foundations or working platforms that are built on top of unstable soils.
