(Yicai Global) March 30 -- Ming Yang Smart Energy Group, a Chinese maker of wind power equipment, said it has shipped its turbine generator system to Nyuzen-machi Offshore Wind Farm, the first Japanese offshore wind power project to use turbines made in China. Its shares rose.
This is the second time that Ming Yang has shipped turbines to another developed country, after delivering its products to Italy’s first offshore wind power project, the Zhongshan-based firm said today. Acceptance in the Japanese market shows the international recognition of the group’s anti-typhoon technologies and affordability, it added.
Ming Yang [SHA: 601615] closed up 2.2 percent at CNY22.68 (USD3.29) a share today. The stock is still down almost 10 percent this year.
The Nyuzen-machi Offshore Wind Farm is located in the Shimoniikawa district of Toyama prefecture and is designed to supply power to 3,600 local families. Offshore construction will start next month and the project is expected to start operating in the second half of this year.
Ming Yang also said it has gained certificates issued by Japan’s economy and industry ministry and ClassNK, and it is the only Chinese company among the four certificated offshore wind power equipment makers.
According to data released by Bloomberg New Energy Finance in March, when it comes to newly increased installation capacity, Ming Yang ranks third among all Chinese wind turbine makers, accounting for 14 percent of the home market. Goldwind Sci & Tech, which ranked first, had a 23 percent share.
