(Yicai Global) Oct. 19 -- China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology has selected a plant extraction program run by Yunnan-based KPC Pharmaceuticals Inc. [SHA:600422] to be one of the country's 2017 National Intelligent Manufacturing Pilot Projects, the company said in a statement yesterday.

The project in question is used to support the company in providing raw materials used in injections of Panax notoginseng, known in Chinese as sanqi. Panax notoginseng is mainly used in curing cerebrovascular disease. Herbs extracted from the plant can expand blood vessels, reduce heart rates and increase cerebral blood flow.

KPC's project will improve production efficiency, eliminate human errors and enhance product quality while cutting energy consumption.

The ministry will select more than 100 candidates for the 2017 National Intelligent Manufacturing Pilot Projects. Fiscal support of between CNY30 million (USD4.53 million) and CNY50 million will be made available for each projects, according to industry experts.
