China Merchants Subsidiary Sets Up Country's Largest Cruise Ship Port in Shekou

(CBN - Global) April 12 -- China Merchants Shekou Industrial Zone Co. [SHE:001979], owned by China Merchants Group, has entered into a strategic partnership with Genting Hong Kong Ltd. [HKG:0678], a world leader in luxury ocean-going travel, to transform Prince Bay into a world-class cruise home port.

Prince Bay is located in Shekou Industrial Zone near the southern city of Shenzhen.

The Prince Bay Cruise Home Port is expected to start operation in November and will be able to handle the largest 22-tonne cruise ships in the world. It will be the first home port to be wholly owned by CMSK and will serve as home base to one of Genting's flagship cruise ships, Superstar Virgo, from November onward.

Ports operated by CMSK parent company China Merchants Group and its subsidiaries served 2.28 million cruise passengers last year, accounting for 90 percent of the national total.
