(Yicai Global) April 10 -- China's consumer price index slid 1.2 percent in March from the previous month, the first month-to-month decline since July, as the country's food supply is showing signs of returning to normal after the early more severe stages of the Covid-19 pandemic.
The CPI still rose 4.3 percent from March 2019, according to data that the National Bureau of Statistics released today.
Within the index, food prices fell 3.8 percent from February as pork prices declined by 6.9 percent, although still logging double the price from the same period of last year. Excluding food, the index dropped 0.4 percent from the previous month as flight prices dived as much as 29 percent due to the epidemic.
