China's Mainland Stocks Extend Their Losses Down to the Wire

(Yicai Global) Aug. 9 -- China's mainland stock markets went even lower in the afternoon to end the week with their fourth day of losses in the five trading days.

The Shanghai Composite Index closed 0.71 percent lower at 2,774.75. The Shenzhen Component Index slipped to 8,795.18, down 1.39 percent, while the ChiNext Price Index, which tracks growth enterprises in Shenzhen, descended 1 percent to 1,507.71.

Affected by a slump in global financial markets since last week, the Shanghai Composite Index, which represents the main weight of the Chinese market, dropped 3.25 percent during the week, following another 2.6 percent decline last week.
