(Yicai Global) June 27 -- China's mainland stock markets closed higher today after a surge in morning trade and a solid performance from 5G firms in the afternoon.

The Shanghai Composite Index finished 0.7 percent higher at 2,996.79. The Shenzhen Component Index closed at 9,238.48, up 1.3 percent, and the ChiNext Price Index, which tracks growth enterprises in Shenzhen, ended up 1.4 percent at 1,525.24.

Telecoms equipment maker ZTE [SHE:000063] led 5G companies, closing up 4.2 percent at CNY32.81 (USD4.77) after a 6 percent peak.
