China's Mainland Markets Closed Afternoon Trading Mixed

(Yicai Global) April 2 -- China's mainland markets closed mixed today as indexes in Shenzhen reversed gains into losses in the afternoon trade. Investors were divided into long and short positions as markets have gained significantly over the last two
trading days.

The Shanghai Composite Index gained 0.2 percent to 3,176.82 points at the close bell with CNY462.6 billion (USD68.9 billion) swapped. The Shenzhen Component Index closed down 0.07 percent at 10,260.36 with a turnover of CNY575.8 billion. The ChiNext Index, which tracks growth enterprises in Shenzhen, closed 0.38 percent lower at 1,754.16 with CNY164.9 billion changing hands.

Small-caps especially tech companies retreated significantly in the afternoon. The software sector closed 0.69 percent higher after going into the lunch break up 3.13 percent. The internet sector also closed 0.9 percent higher after being up 2.71 percent earlier.

Still more sectors gained than declined, led by mining equipment and chemical industry, which were both 2 percent higher. The agriculture, accommodation and liquor sectors closed over 1 percent higher.
