(Yicai Global) June 12 -- China Literature, a platform providing online literary works, has struck a cooperative deal with Transsion Holdings, the leading Chinese smartphone maker in the African market, to jointly explore and develop the continent's online reading market.
The pair will combine the publishing firm's library of original content and operating experience in its online reading platform with the Shenzhen-based phone maker's broad distribution channels in the African market to provide local users with online-reading content and products, the Shanghai-based publisher said in a statement yesterday.
China Literature's online reading application will be pre-installed in all handset brands that Transsion sells in Africa, and the local platform there will first debut nearly 30,000 English works that the publisher now owns and successively launch these in local-language versions, together with other original content, the statement continued.
China Literature is also joining with Guangdong OPPO Mobile Telecommunication, Huawei Technologies, and Vivo Communication Technology to pre-install its mobile apps in their handsets.
Transsion cell phone shipments reached 124 million last year to place it fourth among global handset producers, and it also topped the list for total market share in Africa.
The smartphone maker's global sales network extends over 70 countries and regions.
