(Yicai Global) Jan. 17 -- Auto-parts maker Lingyun Industrial has won a tender to provide battery shells for new energy cars made by a joint venture of Daimler and its Chinese partner BAIC Motor.

Beijing Benz Automotive has chosen Lingyun as a fixed supplier, the Hebei province-based firm said in a statement yesterday. The deal marks an important milestone in Lingyun's marketing efforts in the high-end car sector, and shows the competitiveness of its products, it added.

The pair has already agreed upon pricing, and Lingyun Industrial has started making the products. The quantity will be confirmed later.
